- Practically every digital camera (e.g. Canon EOS series, Nikon D series, Kodak, Konica, Minolta, Sigma, etc.) becomes a panorama machine in connection with one of the RODEON VR Heads. Use all features of your modern digital camera, your high-quality lenses and your well-proven color-management-system for wide-angle and panoramic photos.
- The RODEON VR Heads scan the selected panoramic motive fast and precise by moving the camera around it's nodal point verticaly and horizontaly. The vicinity is scanned, fully automated by triggering the camera at precise points. Single step adjustments are no longer required. No artifacts resulting from line-scanning. No shaking while capturing HDR images. It's just a simple nodal point adapter!
- All models of the RODEON VR Head Series are well suited on their manifold fields of operation.
- The movement is free, configurable and remote controlled via software that runs on a handy PDA or a notebook and is connected over Bluetooth or by cable. For special applications, the corresponding scripts are programmable. Every individual settings can be saved and loaded as profiles every time.
- The AutoStitcher software recognizes the managed movement and automates the working process by using REALVIZ stitcher or REALVIZ ST-Batch. You can also use other stitching software.
- RODEON VR Head is based on the common construction system RODEON modular. Due to its consistent mechanical and electronic modular design, your investment is protected. All modules can be easily assembled and varied. RODEON VR Head is always up-to-date, even if you want to buy a new camera. No matter how modern and high-resolution it is: RODEON VR Head grows continously with it.
- RODEON VR Head does not require a long setup time: set it up with your tripod, fasten your camera with the quick release adapter - and just start it!
An automated Pan-Tilt-Head for the special Heavy Duty purpose of Gigapixel Photography.
The HD - "Heavy Duty" is the superclass of our Rodeon VR Head Series, and worldwide "State of the Art" in the field of gigapixel photography. It especially sets himself apart from the other models by its enormous rigidity and payload because of the "Double-U" construction. This feature, paired with the high precision and strength of the gears, as well as the magnetic brake at it's base plate, are the best premises for extreme high resolutions in the range of gigapixel.

This panorama head, one out of the approved Rodeon Modular series, is proficient not only in taking cylindrical and spherical 180 by 360 degree panoramas in single- and multi-row technique with it's high efficient methodology, but also in positioning the heaviest acquisition equipment wiggle-free with high precision, which makes it possible to achieve highest resolutions at detail level.
The Acquisition Procedure
The objects are not, like common, recorded either by normal or wide-angle-lens with just one shutter, but are split into a multiplicity of adjacent frames, which are captured at high resolution each.
The therefore used large focal length lenses are generating an immense detail magnification per frame. From many of these frames, which are captured one after another with very small rotary difference, the whole image gets assembled with an almost arbitrarily dimension and highest resolution. For doing that, powerful special software is available.
While the usage of special panoramic cameras equipped with CCD or CMOS sensors despite their disadvantages for taking common panoramas still could be considered, these panoramic cameras are improper for Gigapixel Photography due to their lack of resolution.
A Special Head For Special Requirements
The Gigapixel recording technique differs from common panoramic techniques especially by the facts, that the equipment which has to be moved is heavier, the rotary difference between two captured frames is much smaller and the requirements on stability during just one shutter is highly increased because of the smaller field of view. Especially for these needs our HD-type has been designed and ascended shortly to the international 'state of the art'.
Typically for wide-angle and panoramic images is the high dynamic range of their light values within the scene. Even more as in common photography the usage of HDR techniques, where a complete exposure bracketing is done at every camera position, comes in handy here. This technique is supported by our soft- as well as our hardware. The great stableness of our Rodeon VR Head HD during the whole exposure bracketing offers the best premises for the utilization of HDR techniques, even at highest zoom levels.
Projection flashbulbs can be mounted on the camera rig as well, and follow the pan-tilt-movement synchronously with the camera.
By that, the Rodeon VR Head HD is a real, but much cheaper (!), alternative to large-scale scanners, which has been already proved by some of our costumers with spectacular projects.

If it comes to teleoptics, and by this to very high resolutions, in the field of panorama techniques, then it is a matter of strength, precision and low-vibration. All this characterizes the VR Head ST, besides all the other preferences of the VR Head Series. The RODEON VR Station ST is especially designed for extreme long focal length teleoptics (>300mm). The superstrong and high resolution vertical gear provides more than sufficient force to lift these encumbrances, and an additional magnetic brake at the horizontal gear allows the VR Station ST to absolutely stop at every arrived position. Identical in construction to the Rodeon VR Head ST, the VR Station ST comes with an integrated, detachable and wireless control interface. |

The RODEON VR Head CL stands out by its full automation with concurrent highest possible flexibility, and is designed for users, which want to be prepared for all their customers wishes. The RODEON VR Head CL is also available with integrated, detachable wireless control unit as RODEON VR Station CL. |

The RODEON VR Head XP stands out due to it's small dimensions and weight, as well as it's lower power consumption, and is designed for users, who don't want to miss the high precision and automation even on a journey. Compared to the other models of the VR Head Series the XP consists of only one motor-driven axis (horizontal), while the vertical one can be adjusted by a manual detent bearing. |
